You have complete command over the tactics of the battlefield thanks to the top-down command system. As a sign that they are prepared to follow your commands, your characters worship you like a deity.
I can understand the commands. Cast spells by dragging cards. Attack foes by dragging troops to them. Assist wounded teammates by dragging healers to their locations. Flick through fights in three to five minutes flat without pausing for animations. Even if an attack doesn’t work, you may reverse it and attempt again.
You may overcome insurmountable odds by becoming an expert at using strategic positioning, backstabbing, feinting counterattacks, pushing foes into friends to trigger combinations, building combos with traps, and manipulating the battlefield using spell synergies. Despite its unparalleled complexity of mechanics, Abalon is surprisingly easy to pick up and play, but mastering it will be no picnic. Position matters. Facing matters. Terrain matters.
Pick interesting people like druids who throw squirrels, terrifying liche kings, telepathic lizard wizards, and rats who travel through time in a steampunk setting. There are more than 500 cards in Abalon, and each of the 225 playable characters has their own unique set of abilities and weaknesses.
After you’ve decided on a summoner, assemble your squad, and make a deck of twenty cards. Fixed character attributes and skills and interchangeable gear-based upgrades set Abalon apart from other role-playing games. Gone are the grindy leveling systems. Get everyone you can and try different things to come up with new methods.
Synergies may be created by combining troops and spells: Send a squirrel flying in the direction of your opponent and tell it to bite them in the butt. Using Animal Growth, you can transform it into a big hulking squirrel. Afterwards, breed it into a hulking squirrel army and use it to destroy your opponent in the most pleasurable manner possible. Playing again and again reveals fresh secrets.
Colorful forests, snowy peaks, desolate deserts, and dangerous dungeons make up an ever-evolving fantasy world. Every biome in Abalon has its own cast of interesting people and secrets to discover, and the mythology is thick with both dark and comedic tales. Aside from befriending cute bears and birthday goblins, you can also find out the results of destiny encounters by collecting and rolling D20 dice.
