The story

Reputed archaeologist Professor Layton gets a strange letter after solving a number of strange puzzles. Luke, his helper, writes this letter—but he does it from the future, ten years hence! That “Future Luke” is in a real jam is something. Everything he knows and loves about London is in utter disarray.

At first, the professor thinks Luke was just being innocent, but then he remembers the horrible events of the previous week…

Several notable citizens from throughout the country were present for the unveiling event that marked the beginning of this. The machine was the first of its type. A catastrophic explosion enveloped the spectators when the time machine malfunctioned mid-demonstration. Not only that, but Prime Minister Bill Hawks was one of many guests who abruptly disappeared.

The explosion of the time machine kept nagging at Professor Layton and Luke, and they finally decided to investigate the letter’s suggested location—a clock store on Midland Road in Baldwin—in the hopes of solving the greatest enigma they’d ever faced.
